| SFBC Celebrates 10,000 members!
Over 1,000 members, new members, bike supporters, sponsors, artists, and local politicians gathered at the SFBC's 2008 Winterfest Auction, Art Show, Party and Fundraiser celebrate a record-setting year for bicycling and the SFBC's huge milestone of reaching 10,000 members--the SFBC is now the largest local bicycle advocacy group in the entire nation. It was by far the biggest and best Winterfest party yet, featuring the infectious tunes of Brass Mafia and amazing silent and live auctions including 18 new bikes, bike-gear, 60 pieces of local art and a raffle for a Schwinn Tandem and first-ever bicycle quilt composed by 30 Bay Area crafters. Read a great account of the night on the Fog City Journal's Blog and see images from the Winterfest photo booth and on our flickr page. A big and special thank you to our 200 Winterfest volunteers who made it all happen (as always!). And a huge 10-sprocket salute to all our sponsors--especially Winterfest Presenting Sponsor Rickshaw Bagworks and Big Wheel Sponsor New Belgium Brewery. Their generous financial support and dedication not only make Winterfest possible, but also help our work in making San Francisco a safer city for the more than 120,000 people who are biking regularly for transportation. Thanks also to the local politicians who showed up to celebrate and support bike advocacy, including newly elected Supervisor Eric Mar, Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi and City Assessor-Recorder Phil Ting. Thanks to everyone who joined us and helped support our work for better biking in San Fransisco. We can hardly wait for next year! | |||||||||
