Street improvements coming soon
8th Street between Market Street and Townsend is being upgraded!
The SFMTA Board will be deciding up traffic changes to 8th Street on Tuesday June 19, meant to improve bike and pedestrian safety on this busy corridor. The propsed redesign includes lowering the speed limit from 30 mph to 25mph, removing one automobile travel lane, and widening the bike lane and adding in a buffer between the bike lane and moving traffic.
The SF Bicycle Coalition has been working with the SFMTA on this redesign and thank the SFMTA for making these improvements.
The SF Bicycle Coalition continually monitors the street repaving list and works with the SFMTA and Department of Public Works on ensuring bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements are included.
Stay tuned for photographs of the repaving and new buffered bikeway in the next few weeks!
