The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition works to promote bicycling for everyday transportation. Our 11,000-member grassroots organization is considered one of the most active and effective advocacy groups in the city.

The SF Bicycle Coalition's work during the past decade has helped to double the number of people biking in San Francisco. We are working to significantly increase and improve biking in the City. Through day-to-day advocacy, education, and working partnerships with government and community agencies, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition is dedicated to creating safer streets and more livable communities for all San Franciscans.

The SF Bicycle Coalition's top strategies include: building a Citywide Bike Network, where people of any age, background, or skill level will feel safe and comfortable riding; educating motorists and bicyclists about the importance of sharing the road responsibly; increasing secure bike parking and access to transit; and promoting bicycling as a fun, healthy, and mainstream form of transportation.

The part-time Administrative Assistant will work 10 hours/week in the Development Department to provide administrative support and major gift processing tasks for the fundraising program.

The SF Bicycle Coalition is looking for a highly motivated, talented individual to support the Coalition's growing Development Program, including the following responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the two member Development team to provide administrative support
  • Manage and maintain Salesforce database of donors and donations; manage and update donor records and maintain files; provide reports on donor activity, schedule donor meetings
  • Set up and execute routine weekly thank you letters
  • Mail merge and produce mailings including major gift renewals, special solicitations, pledge reminders, and donor event invitations
  • Managing advertisements and invoicing for our print newsletter
  • Event planning: manage event RSVPs; assist with communications with sponsors; help with logistics, work with outside vendors, and help with event set-up.
  • Maintain & support ongoing donor campaigns: monthly sustainer program, workplace match program
  • Work closely with the Development team to implement strategies to meet organization's annual fundraising goals and assist with other fundraising work as needed

The right candidate for the position will:

  • Have at least 2 years of office support experience. Administrative/office experience is required; experience in development and gift processing is a plus
  • Be motivated and self-managing
  • Be highly organized
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Candidates must be highly skilled in utilizing and working with Excel spreadsheets, especially mail merge functions
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work load, maintain several projects of equal priority at once, and sustain productivity and accuracy under pressure
  • Be able to work in a fast paced, open, team-oriented office
  • Be professional and efficient
  • Be computer-literate and Internet savvy, with direct experience in using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and experience with databases (knowledge of Salesforce preferred)
  • Have experience and interest in working with a diverse range of people on a daily basis
  • Ability to move from place to place; use a computer terminal and telephone; able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds short distances; can bend twist, reach and grasp.
  • Can work within the office hours of 10am-6pm Monday-Friday 2-4 times a week on a set schedule
  • Flexibility and sense of humor
  • Demonstrate passion for creating a better city & be familiar with bicycle issues
This part-time position reports to the SF Bicycle Coalition's Membership & Volunteer Coordinator and Development Director and works closely with a team of bicycle advocates on staff, Board Members, and with Coalition volunteers. Pay is $15/hour for 10 hours a week.
