Toleration is the greatest gift of the mind; it requires the same effort of the brain that it takes to balance oneself on a bicycle.

WINTERFEST--BIGGEST BIKE PARTY OF THE YEAR--THIS SUNDAY!

Don't let a little rain discourage you, we've got just the thing you need to lift your spirits - our 10th Annual Winterfest is coming this Sunday, December 4! This is when the biking fun comes indoors and you finally get to be up close and personal with all the other pedalers in town. Plus, Winterfest's silent and live auctions are a great place to do your holiday shopping or make your yearly bike improvement purchases at great deals. We've even got a special treat for you - more than just beer, food, music, great bike art and bike goodies - you'll be able to screen the comic bike films entered in our bike film contest! See http://www.sfbike.org for more info.

Go to http://www.sfbike.org/catalog to view a partial listing of our silent and live auction items.

See you at the bigggest bike party of the year THIS Sunday!

If you have an email list that you can put the word out to, please help us in this way.

The following are the areas that we still have space to fill: Live Auction Monitor, Raffle Monitor, Silent Auction Monitor, Set up Crew, Food, Raffle Seller and Strike (clean up). FOR THE LOVE OF TUBE TIMES--TONIGHT'S FOLDING PARTY

TONIGHT, we have the bi-monthly Tube Times Folding Party where we fold, staple and label til our hearts are content! Give us a hand to get 5000 newsletters out the door, meet some fellow riders, and enjoy a social productive evening at the SFBC offices. We spring for dinner in thanks for your efforts! It all starts at 5pm at the SFBC office, located at 995 Market St, Suite 1550 (@ 6th St). Riding a bike? Bring it upstairs. Everyone is welcome, the more the merrier. If you have questions, contact jodie@sfbike.org

ALEMANY BLVD BIKE LANES -- IMPORTANT HEARING MONDAY 12/5

At long last, Alemany Blvd bike lanes are on the agenda for the Board of Supervisors' City Operations and Neighborhood Services (CONS) Committee meeting next Monday, December 5th (1:00 pm, City Hall, Room 263), and we need all available velocitizens to speak up for this Top 20 Bike Network gap closure. If you can make it to the CONS meeting to speak in support of the lanes please do, but no matter what please try to send a letter or email a note of support to the CONS committee members: Jake McGoldrick, Fiona Ma, and Bevan Dufty. You can see the Supes' contact information on the SFBC website:

And if you're not already on our Alemany mailing list, contact Andy Thornley (andy@sfbike.org) and we'll sign you up!

CHOOSE YOUR LEADERS IN SFBC ELECTION

SFBC members directly elect our Board of Directors, who oversee the Coalition's strategic direction, finances, fundraising, and more. This is important stuff, to say the least. Your vote is needed now, as we decide on Board members for the upcoming 2-year term. Please read the candidates' statements and vote today (it only takes a few minutes thanks to our speedy online system).

HITTING THE STREETS THIS WEEKEND--ARGUELLO STREETSIDE OUTREACH

The new Velo Rouge Cafe at Arguello and McCallister is having Thanksgiving in December this weekend, December 3 and 4. This is a perfect opportunity for the SFBC to reach out to passing cyclists in a Streetside Outreach! If you are interested in helping with Streetside Outreach at this event, contact SFBC Board Member, Jenn Fox at jgreyfox@yahoo.com and let her know your availability for a shift between 8 and 5 on Saturday or Sunday.

GOT TIME? SEEKING POST PARTY DAYTIME VOLUNTEERS

One of the greatest gifts you can give the SFBC is your volunteer time. The week following our big Winterfest shindig is a truly busy week in the office with follow up, clean up and post-party organizing.

If you have an hour or two to spare, we would love to put you to good use (this is a great opportunity for barter memberships!). Daytime and post-work drop bys are welcome. Send jodie@sfbike.org a quick note to say when you will be coming by! (SFBC HQ 995 Market St. Suite 1550 at 6th St). See you in the office!
