SFBC Biker Bulletin
February 26, 2006
I just told someone the other day what an incredible organization I think the SFBC is - that it seems like practically every week new paths are being striped through the city. It makes me feel so much more visible as a biker, both as an individual and as part of a movement!
MAKE A CALL TO SUPPORT DOWNTOWN PARKING REFORM
Your help is needed to move forward the groundbreaking legislation to reform parking and create livable streets in the city's downtown commercial (C-3) zoning districts. This item will be back at the Board of Supervisors tomorrow for another vote. We need SFBC members' help contacting Mayor Newsom and Supervisor Dufty before tomorrow's meeting. The Mayor is under pressure from downtown interests to veto the legislation. Supervisor Dufty's vote is critical to getting a veto-proof majority of the board. Please contact them both and let them know you support downtown parking reform and safer downtown streets.
Mayor Gavin Newsom
Supervisor Bevan Dufty
YOUR IDEAS NEEDED FOR BETTER BICYCLING IN THE TENDERLOIN
The San Francisco County Transportation Authority (SFCTA) is launching a community-based transportation planning process for the Tenderloin and Little Saigon neighborhoods, and they want to hear from you at a public meeting tomorrow (Tues 2/28) from 5:30-7:30pm in the Saint Boniface Auditorium, 133 Golden Gate Ave (@ Jones). Share your ideas and concerns about biking, walking, Muni, parking, driving, and anything else you think they need to know about transportation issues in the Tenderloin. Projects will be funded based on your input! For more information contact Casey Mills at 415-771-980 x116, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
