"Yes on A, No on H!" Rally this Thursday!
ALERT! Last week, Billionaire Republican Don Fisher, the founder of the GAP, and his downtown machine resumed pouring money into their anti-transit, anti-planning campaign for deceptive and disastrous Proposition H -- and against pro-transit Proposition A. Now they are mailing out hit pieces designed to destroy San Francisco's "Transit First" policy, despite overwhelming opposition by environmental groups, sustainable transportation advocates, and community organizations. Help the Transit not Traffic Coalition strike back at the Big Money working to reverse years of progressive transportation policy! Take an hour off lunch this Thursday and join us at:
What: Yes on A, No on H Rally
We're also looking for volunteers to phone bank, flyer, and do outreach for "Yes on A, No on H!" at other locations this week. Polling shows that when voters are educated, support for Proposition A grows, and support for Prop H drops like a stone. We need your grassroots energy to help us win Yes on A and No on H! For more information on the propositions, go to our Bike Vote page. To volunteer before November 6th, email Rachel.
Treasure Island Community Workshops Next Monday and Tuesday
Here's your chance to help shape San Francisco's next community of sustainability! Come hear about and discuss plans to center transportation on Treasure Island around people -- not automobiles. Tree-lined sidewalks? Car-free zones? Safer bicycle boulevards? What would a bicycle and pedestrian centered environment look like? You're invited to attend either workshop:
SFBC's 3rd Annual Member Party Sunday, Oct. 28
Enjoy a mellow potluck in Dolores Park with fellow SFBC Members and the SFBC Staff on Sunday, September 28 from 1-5pm. This casual get-together is an opportunity to enjoy each other's company without campaigning, volunteer begs, or asking for donations -- just good old-fashioned fun in the park. Bring Frisbees, a blanket, and a snack or beverages to share. We'll be at picnic tables 7 and 8, just west of the playground, along the paved pathway.
Winterfest Bash! Bikes, Beer, Art and Auction!
The SFBC and Rickshaw Bagworks present the 12th Annual Winterfest Party, Auction and Fundraiser on Sunday, December 2, at SOMArts Gallery. This is the one party of the year not to miss -- we'll have fabulously hot bike (and non bike) items to be auctioned, an art auction with some of the most talented local Bay Area Artists, New Belgium brew, food and entertainment by the Extra Action Marching Band. Save the date, bring your friends and score all your holiday gifts while toasting all our accomplishments this year. All proceeds from Winterfest benefit the work of the SFBC.
Volunteer at SF State -- Bring Your Bike to School Day!
SF State's ECO-Students are teaming up with SFBC volunteers to bring a new event to SFSU. "Bring Your Bike to School Day" on Thursday, Oct. 25, will be part of SFSU's week-long "Everyday is Earth Day Festival" and is gearing up to be chock full of bike advocacy, bike workshops, and a bike light give-away. The event needs a whole lot of volunteers to make it happen! Here are the details:
