Light up the Night! Free Bike Light Give-Away Thursday!
This Thursday, November 1, the SFBC is teaming up with SFMTA to give away hundreds of bike lights to cyclists traveling along the city's major bike corridors. The Bike Light Give-Away corresponds with the end of Daylight Savings Time -- we want to increase rider visibility with the darkening hours. Lights are a key piece of safety gear!
Volunteers with handy fingers will attach blinkies to bikes that do not have lights from 5-7pm at six giveaway locations:
Tell your friends who don't have lights and spread the word to the kids on your block! Download a poster from our website and put it up at your school, library, or local coffee shop. Tell everyone to COME EARLY, as we will only be giving out lights until supplies run out. Please note: We are targeting cyclists who do NOT already have lights. You must have your bike with you to receive a light. For more info, see Light Up the Night.
20,000 More Cars Every Day? NO WAY!!! Join the Fight Now!
There are only SEVEN days left until the November 6th election. Now is the
time to get out the vote for
YES on Proposition A, and No, No, NO on deceptive Proposition H. In the last week, hundreds of volunteers from an unprecedented coalition of labor, environmental, and neighborhood groups made phone calls, walked precincts, and spoke out for Transit Not Traffic. And the SFBC has been representing big time thanks to all our dedicated volunteers!
Don't let conservative Gap-owner Don Fisher buy his way into FIVE TIMES more parking downtown! Polling shows that education is critical in this election and every voter we reach will help to turn the tide. Contact Rachel at 431-BIKE x302 and sign up to get out the vote!
Make Healthy Saturdays in G.G. Park Permanent!
For the past six months, San Franciscans and visitors have enjoyed much-needed, car-free space in Golden Gate Park. Now, we want to ensure that Healthy Saturdays becomes permanent -- what we passed last spring was only a one-year term.
We need your help to pass Supervisor McGoldrick's legislation for ongoing, permanent car-free Healthy Saturdays, coming before the Board of Supervisors this Monday, November 5th. If it passes the Board and is signed by the Mayor, there will be car-free space every April thru September on the stretch of JFK Drive between Tea Garden Dr. and Transverse Dr. There are two ways you can help:
