Holloway Traffic Calming Meeting ThursdayDo you pedal on the south side? To SFSU or City College? Holloway Avenue is a key east/west route through the southern side of the city and a major corridor for college students trying to get to school car-free. It's also slated in the city's Bike Plan for Bicycle Boulevard treatments -- traffic calming that prioritizes bikes, pedestrians, and slow moving vehicles over high auto speeds. This Thursday, an MTA Engineer will meet with neighbors and stakeholders to review the draft traffic calming/transportation plan for Holloway and Garfield. Please come out for this meeting -- MTA needs to hear your voice to make this key bike route safe, dignified and delightful.
When: Thursday, November 29, 7pm To learn more about traffic calming, visit MTA's Traffic Calming Overview. If you can't make the meeting, but are interested in advocating for a bicycle and pedestrian friendly Holloway, email Rachel. Cargo Way Bicycle TourCargo Way is a little-known industrial street in the city's southeast which is currently undergoing a planning process to transform it into a great street for walking and cycling -- and a key link in the city's Blue Greenway and the Bay Trail, a 500-mile regional pedestrian and bicycle trail around SF Bay. Join a bicycle tour this Saturday and learn more. When: Dec. 1, 10:30 am- 12:30 pm Participants will hear about plans for Illinois Street bicycle lanes, explore the new Illinois St. bridge across Islais Creek and hear about ideas for a separated bicycle path on Cargo Way and a new entrance to Heron's Head Park. Members of the Cargo Way design team and city staff will be there, and participants can offer their ideas for Cargo Way, the design of the trail and of key intersections along the route. The discussion will continue afterwards over an optional lunch at the Ramp. For more information about the Cargo Way plan, see the Redevelopment Agency's web site. Holiday Shopping: Thigh Master?
