SFBC Biker Bulletin
November 18, 2008
"Using a Facebook application called "I Crossed Your Path," cyclists will be able to make connections with each other by exchanging information - online or through a smartphone - about which routes they took that day. With the information it collects, the project might also help urban planners make better decisions on things like where new bike paths should be built."

Giving Feels Good and Lasts a Lifetime
As the year comes to a close, the SFBC is busy planning for a new year, and we know that 2009 promises to be a historic year for bike improvements in San Francisco! Everything from the Bike Plan Injunction being lifted, to 50+ projects implemented and winning more car-free space on our streets next year. Change is in the air--locally and nationally.
At this pivotal moment in our City's history, the SFBC needs to be financially sound to make the most of the opportunities at hand as we work to make San Francisco a fantastic biking city. Because you've been behind us every step of the way, we've been able to be the mover and shaker on our streets and in City Hall. And with your year-end support, we will be able to dedicate more resources to representing today's bicyclists while encouraging the bicyclists of tomorrow.
Please take a moment to make a year-end contribution to the SFBC or SFBC Education Fund (tax deductible) at a level that is significant to you. Giving to the SFBC is the best investment you can make to improve your daily ride, making our streets safer, our neighborhoods saner and our city more livable.
Thank you in advance for your commitment to the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.
Light Up the Night with FREE Blinky Bike Lights!
Hundreds of free bike lights will be
distributed to cyclists traveling along the city's major bike corridors on Tuesday, December 2nd from 6-7pm by the San Francisco Bicycle
Coalition and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency. We are working to increase rider visibility in the dark hours, and lights are a key piece
of safety gear! Check out www.sfbike.org/lights for locations
and information on how to volunteer. Spread the word to your friends and neighbors who are riding in the dark!
Download a poster and put it up
at your school, library, or neighborhood coffee shop. Please note: We are targeting cyclists who do not have lights and you must bring your bicycle
to receive the free lights.

Where Do You Love to Park Your Bike?
Thanks to everyone who has already sent in their love and hate locations for bike parking--we've got a good list going.
We're looking now specifically for public destinations that have quality bike parking. Places like: museums; community centers; healthcare providers;
concert halls; movie theatres; shopping centers; markets and large stores. We're looking for places that you have peace of mind while
you peruse art, nature, or products you know that your saddle and basket will still be there when you get back to your bike. Any tips?
Send them to our Bike Parking Investigation Team
Why Do You Bike? The SFBC Wants to See and Know
The SFBC wants to know why you bike. What does happiness look like on your bike? We are hoping to generate images and text to help us showcase the face
of bicycling in San Francisco through the real life experiences and real people in our community. Feel free to forward this to anyone you think
might be interested in helping us with this endeavor. Please read a full description of how to participate here.
Email questions to firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline for Entries: December 8th.
