Biking in city traffic can be daunting.
Share Your Vision for JFK Boulevard
The SFMTA has launched a survey to get feedback on the different ideas for 1.5 miles of separated bikeway on JFK Drive in Golden Gate Park. Read up on the latest proposals and how the JFK Separated Bikeway fits into Connecting the City's longer Bay to Beach Route here, and share your thoughts with the SFMTA. To meet the growing demand of new, young, and older riders, the SF Bicycle Coalition supports a continuous, separated bikeway on JFK Drive. Speak up for these improvements today!
Join Us at Bike Happy Hours Thursdays in July
Celebrate biking in the city with the SF Bicycle Coalition by stopping by one of our Bike Happy Hours every Thursday in July from 5-7pm. The SF Bicycle Coalition will be out celebrating biking by showing gratitude to people riding their bikes with fun treats. Want to be part of the Happy Hours as a Bicycle Ambassador and put smiles on the faces of your fellow bicycle riders? This Thursday we'll be at 6th and Market Streets with happy hour goodies and pumps for low tires -- want to join the team? Email Tessa if you're a trained Bicycle Ambassador and want to sign up for this Thursday (or any Thursday in July) from 5-7pm.
Enjoy Ocean Beach This Weekend at Sunday Streets
Sunday Streets makes an encore visit to the Great Highway and Golden Gate Park this Sunday, July 10, from 11am-4pm. Enjoy bicycling, walking, hula hooping, dancing, rollerskating and more with your neighbors at Sunday Streets! Literally hundreds of people like you to help make Sunday Streets possible by volunteering, and here are five things you can do to help make a difference:
Joint Principles for a Better Market Street
The City completed two webinars and two workshops earlier this Spring for the Better Market Street Project -- reimagining transportation and public space on the city's most iconic street, from Octavia Boulevard to the Embarcadero. As the Better Market Street Project moves towards studying and presenting conceptual options for the street, the SF Bicycle Coalition is presenting a list a Joint Principles for the project.
If You've Got the Gift of Gab, Volunteer Your Skills
Accept the challenge to chat up the SF Bicycle Coalition! Join the volunteers who keep the SF Bicycle Coalition membership strong. No cold-calling, just calls to friendly lapsed members offering an easy way to renew. Join us Wednesday, July 6, from 5-8pm at the SF Bicycle Coalition HQ, 833 Market St., Floor 10. Plan to stay for the thank-you dinner afterward and get to know your fellow volunteers. You must be a current or former member to volunteer. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up or for more information.
Share Your Passion: Lead a Rec Ride
Do you have a passion for local chocolate or an unique knowledge of San Francisco history? Lead a SF Bicycle Coalition Rec Ride and share your passion with other people on bicycles! Plan a tour of San Francisco murals or plot out an afternoon ride to your favorite comic book stores -- rides are limited only by your imagination! Whatever you love, share it with other members with a Rec Ride this Fall. Email Tessa for more info.
Seeking Business Computing Network Equipment
Attention Techies: the growing SF Bicycle Coalition office could really use enterprise-grade network equipment (e.g., Cisco, Sonicwall, Meraki) that does traffic shaping or bandwidth monitoring. If you have expertise in network monitoring or have technology you or your office can donate, please send specs to Operations Director Frank Chan. Indicate whether or not you could deliver the item to our 833 Market Street office and if you would like to make the contribution tax deductible.
Video: Inspiration Through 2-Wheels
In this viral video, a new bike rider has some encouraging words for other children learning to ride a bike. His enthusiasm is infectious! Bring your child to one of the SF Bicycle Coalition's Freedom From Training Wheels workshops and get some help teaching them how to ride. Freedom From Training Wheels workshops are held at every Sunday Streets during the summer. A complete schedule and more information can be found here.
