Page St is already a great street to ride on - the SFBC would like to see it become a full fledged bicycle boulevard, where car traffic is discouraged and bike traffic is prioritized. Read more about our vision for Page St.

Golden Gate Park

Fell Street & Masonic Avenue Intersection

As part of the City's Bike Plan Update, design concepts have been developed to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety along the Panhandle Pathway at the intersection with Masonic Avenue. Motorists turning left from Fell onto Masonic and cyclists using the pathway get a green light at the same time, resulting in conflict and collisions. Market Street Bike Lanes

Market Street is, hands down, the highest volume bicycle thoroughfare in San Francisco. Seven bike routes feed onto Market and while bike lanes do exist on some segments, large gaps occur near intersections due to varying street and sidewalk widths. The Bike Plan Update proposes modifications to Upper Market Street.

Market and Octavia

Market and Octavia has long been a problem for many cyclists in the city. At the end of 2007, the city installed a permanent concrete island to prevent motorists from making the illegal right turn. While this has deterred many drivers and reduced instances of this dangerous turn, more can still be done.

Between Fell and Geary, the width of Masonic varies significantly, requiring different designs options based on available street space.

Masonic Avenue Bike Lanes

Masonic Avenue is currently designated as the official bicycle route for travel north of the Panhandle. However, it doesn't feature bike lanes or any sort of bicycle-friendly improvements -- it's simply the only direct route between mid-Haight and Geary Blvd.

Fell St

The trial bike lanes on Fell Street have proven a great success, anmd they are now a permanent part of District 5!
