The 2006 Golden Wheel Awards were dedicated to two exceptional individuals:

Clay Richard Mankin, 1955-2005

A tireless advocate for bike causes, and long time owner of City Cycle of San Francisco, Clay recognized biking as an essential ingredient to improve the quality of life in our city and helped to promote the joy of biking throughout his life.

Peter Tannen

Dedicating 14 years to bike improvements on our city's streets during his tenure as manager of the Municipal Transportation Agency Bicycle Program, Peter has helped guide the city through the process of embracing and enhancing bicycling as a routine transportation choice.
