Golden Wheel Event Intern

Position Overview

The Event Planner Interns will gain first-hand knowledge about non-profit organizations through one of the most important funding sources for our non-profit -- the Golden Wheel Awards.

Tasks will include sponsor solicitation and follow-up, event logistics, set-up, day-of execution & event wrap up. You will be involved from start to finish.

The Event Planner Internship is a great way to get a very hands-on experience of non-profit development. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-spoken "people person" who's interested in building their resume and gaining new skills & experience in event planning and project management.

This internship offers a flexible schedule with an 8-hour a week minimum commitment. All 8-hours must be in-office (between 9am-6pm Monday-Friday). The position includes a small stipend, plus one-year membership in the SFBC. And we are happy to work with any academic requirements the intern may have and serve as a reference for future career pursuits.

Skills & Knowledge to be Gained

  • Real world grassroots non-profit experience
  • Project management skills by helping organize large projects & events
  • Sponsorship solicitation and relationship building
  • Event planning from start to finish for a high-end fundraiser
  • Inside experience with a highly regarded non-profit
  • Academic credit, by working with your academic institution's internship program

Requirements

Essential:

  • Interest in learning ins and outs of event planning
  • Track record of working well on team projects
  • Excellent oral communications skills (must be comfortable on the phone)
  • Strong multitasking ability required
  • Strong computer skills, Excel & Word are a must. html is helpful
  • Must be highly organized and a self starter
  • Cheerful, friendly & have an upbeat outlook
  • Savvy internet researcher

Helpful:

  • Familiarity with biking in San Francisco & the work of the SFBC
  • Commitment to building a sustainable San Francisco
  • Experience with Macintosh computers
