Improve Cycling in SF's National Park
Beginning September 29, the Presidio Trust closed two roads to auto traffic -- a part of Presidio Boulevard and the uphill segment of Crissy Field Avenue, a well-used bike route leading up to the Golden Gate Bridge. Along with speed cushions and a stop sign, those changes are meant to discourage drivers from using this National Park as a high-speed shortcut to avoid the rush hour commute. Unfortunately, the noisy minority has caught the ear of Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier and are threatening to force the Presidio to end the 28-day trial before data can be collected. Have you ridden through the Presidio and love it? Make sure you voice your support for calmer streets and more car-free space by emailing presidio@presidiotrust.gov!
The Presidio is important to cyclists both as a recreational destination and as a through route between Marin County and San Francisco, and around the perimeter of the City. The SFBC is working to improve both on and off-road bicycle facilities. We were closely involved with the Presidio Trust's planning process for the Presidio Trails and Bikeways Master Plan.
