Leah Shahum has served as Executive Director of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition since 2002. For four years prior, she was the SFBC's Program Director. Before coming to the SFBC, Leah worked as a journalist for a local newspaper and a national magazine. She graduated from Duke University in North Carolina with a degree in political science and a focus in women's studies. Leah most recently served on the Board of Directors of the SF Municipal Transportation Agency. She previously served for five years on the 19-member Board of Directors of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway, and Transportation District. She is also a San Francisco representative to the state Democratic Party.

Jodie joined the group in March 2005 as the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition's Membership & Outreach Director. Before the SF Bicycle Coalition, she worked in direct marketing, volunteer coordinating and community building for a variety of organizations. Full of passion for the city, she has a desire to make San Francisco a better place to live. More bikes! Jodie has a BA in History from Clark University.

Frank joined in August 2006 as Operations Director. Frank previously worked at Oracle, Extricity, and most recently as Engineering Program Manager for BEA Systems before realizing he enjoyed the ride to and from work more. He now wants every street in this city to be bikeable for his people. After growing up across the bay in Hayward, Frank graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with BS and MS degrees in computer science.

Neal joined the SF Bicycle Coalition in September 2007 as Community Planner and is currently the Planning Director. He earned a BA in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins University, and subsequently spent two and a half years as an HIV prevention volunteer with the US Peace Corps in Madagascar. He previously worked at Stanford researching the experiences of people living with HIV/AIDS throughout California. Neal is on the Board of Directors of SF Beautiful and also plays cello with the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony.

Marc joined the staff in September 2008 as Program Manager. Marc previously worked as Media & Communications/Program Associate at Urban Habitat, a regional social and environmental justice organization. Before that, he worked in the Florida Legislature and on various political campaigns since graduating from the University of Florida with a BA in Sociology of Religion. Marc is a regular bike commuter, and an occasional bike camper.

Kit has a long and successful history of leading campaigns for more livable streets. She helped launch the much-lauded NYC Streets Renaissance Campaign while working at NYC's Transportation Alternatives. She did similar work at the Metropolitan Planning Council in Chicago. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College, and lives with her husband and two children in the San Francisco hills.

Abbey joined the staff in June of 2011. She enjoys wrangling data and has a professional background in nonprofit administration and librarianship. Locally, she's worked for the National Kidney Foundation and the horticultural library at the San Francisco Botanical Garden. She has a Masters degree in Library and Information Science from Simmons College. Abbey began her love affair with urban bicycling in Boston and will always be wicked proud of her New England roots. She is a daily bike commuter and loves exploring the city on two wheels.

Kristin joined the staff in September 2011 as the Communications Director. She comes to us with a wealth of experience reporting on local bicycle culture for news outlets like San Francisco magazine, 7x7, The Bold Italic, and The SF Bay Guardian. Previously, Kristin was the managing editor of Curve magazine, where she oversaw the day-to-day operations and editorial of the monthly print publication. Kristin’s love of words is only matched by her love of bikes. She is a daily commuter, sometimes racer, and former mountain bike tour guide.

Tracy joined the staff in September 2011 as the Development Associate. She has several years non-profit fundraising experience and previously worked for La Casa de las Madres, a domestic violence shelter and service provider. She earned her BA in Sociology from UC Davis where she was first introduced to urban cycling. Tracy now rides her bike almost everyday, having traded Davis' flat roads for San Francisco's hills.

Bonnie joined the staff in August of 2012 as the Event Planner. From tradeshows and conferences to parades and comedy competitions, she has been producing events around the globe for the past decade. She also enjoys biking all over this great city, volunteering, training for her next marathon, and exploring. Bonnie has a BS in Marketing from Northern Arizona University and always seeks out new learning opportunities.

Eric joined the staff in August of 2012 as the Senior Graphic Designer. He comes to us with a background in graphic design and city planning. Previously, Eric was a Graphics Instructor at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. In addition, he has worked with several bicycle and planning advocacy organizations including the NJ Bicycle and Pedestrian Resource Center, NJ Safe Routes to School, Regional Plan Association, and Good Jobs New York. Eric commutes daily and enjoys long distance rides on the weekends. Although he really loves his new home in San Francisco, he misses east coast bagels and the warmer water of the Atlantic.

Chema joined the staff in October of 2012 as the Community Organizer. After more than a decade of engaging people and organizing communities in Switzerland and Mexico, he came to San Francisco, where he has continued doing the same in the Mission District. Chema studied at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and misses the dense European bike and transit networks and is determined to make sure San Francisco achieves the same. He loves cooking, hiking and traveling (by bike!).

Margaret joined the staff in November of 2012 as the Volunteer Coordinator. She became a committed urban cyclist while living in Munich, Germany, and moved back to San Francisco determined to keep biking in urban areas. Prior to joining the SF Bicycle Coalition, Margaret managed volunteer communities at educational nonprofits 826 Valencia and at the Bay Area office of Spark, and taught English as a Foreign Language in Poland and Germany. Margaret studied Theater and English Literature at San Francisco State University. She loves biking around town to literary events and in pursuit of the perfect cappuccino, and enjoys bike camping in the Bay Area. She is thrilled to be working with the Bike Coalition’s dedicated and energetic volunteers.
