Volunteer Projects

Want to join the crusade for safer streets? The SFBC has short-term projects to fit any schedule. Call Mary at 431-BIKE, ext. 1 to help:

Photograph Finder We’d like to print up SFBC postcards using old, funky bike photos, but first we need to find the shots! This project involves scouring old magazines and books looking for cool, uncopyrighted bike images.

Bike To Work Week Lots of volunteer help is needed before and during Bike to Work Week (May 17th -21st). Staff an energizer station; lead a bike train; post posters; park bikes; solicit treats; fit helmets; design flyers; install free bike lights; distribute bike propaganda; stuff bags; make signs; tune up bikes; and much more!

Translators An important goal for 1999 is to translate our flyers and alerts into Spanish and Tagalog.

Streetside Outreach Staff a table or distribute bike propaganda to bicyclists as part of our spring/summer streetside outreach campaign. We’re especially interested in outreach to non-central neighborhoods, on BART and CalTrain, on bridges, at the bike mural, and in conjunction with specific SFBC campaigns.

Renewal Calling Help herd lapsed members back into the flock! In an effort to improve member renewal rates we’ve created a calling tree for lapsed SFBC members to be kindly urged/reminded/cajoled into renewing. Now all we need are the callers!
