Volunteer Needs & Board Elections

Volunteer Needs

Bike to Work Day
Want to make Bike to Work Day 2000 more than just a big pat on the back to the already bike-converted? Want a better party, more outreach to businesses or more free schwag? Want to see more people on bikes in the street? Bring your new ideas and energy to the first-ever BTWD Organizing Committee (see Chain of Events for details)

Women's History Tour
Know a lot about Women's history in SF? Want to learn more? We'd like help researching/organizing/leading a women's history bike tour - to explore the less well known impact that women had on the city, from the Ohlones to the present. Call Mary at 431-BIKE, x1 for more info. Also, we're looking for members to lead more cultural history bike tours this year. Some topic ideas include: Japanese History in SF, African-American History Tour, and Sports Stadiums History.

Board Elections

Congratulations to newly elected members of the SFBC Board of Directors: Linda Atkins, Dale Danley, John Fall, Greg Howard, and Maggie Robbins. These five candidates ran for and won five open seats on the 12-person Board. Their terms begin as of January 2000 for two-year terms. Welcome also to new board member Loretta de Guzman, who was appointed in November to fill an open Board seat. And special thanks to outgoing Board Member Kathleen Haviland for all her work during her years on the Board.
