And what's so great about San Francisco? It's the "extremely active cycling community" and "influential advocacy," according to Bicycling. Even though bicyclists make up a relatively small percentage of commuters in the area, the article explains, "They have a major impact on transportation policy."
So, pat yourselves on the backs. All of that volunteer work, all of those letters and emails to public officials, and your dedication are making a difference!
