A big cheers to everyone who came out to celebrate and raise a glass to better bicycling at our 15th annual Winterfest party, auction and fundraiser on Sunday, December 5th. This important fundraiser helped raise over $70,000 and was the perfect way to celebrate momentous gains in 2010. This year, we saw the beginning of projects that will stripe over 30 miles of new bikes lanes, Market Street’s green separated bike lane, on-street bike parking, the first wave of parklets and the launch of our ambitious Connecting the City campaign. Another major milestone? The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition is now 12,000-members strong!
More than 1,000 people shared stories and laughs with new and old friends, while enjoying bottomless brew all night in their limited edition Winterfest pint glass and scoring great deals on 20 sparkly new bikes, more than 200 donated silent auction items and over 50 art pieces. One happy winner walked away with this year’s one-of-a-kind handmade Bike Quilt from the raffle and many people left with screen printed t-shirts, buttons and spoke cards crafted at our DIY table.
And thanks to the Winterfest photo booth, you can relive all the memories of the night. Peruse the photos here.
The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition Staff and Board would like to thank:
JC Rafferty of Girl Friday Productions and Eliote Durham of E. Cee Productions for their event-coordinating expertise and guidance; the Winterfest team of Eliza Barrios, Lisa Howlett, Justin Shamieh and Kim Quinones for putting the event together from start to finish; illustrator Hugh D’Andrade for the beautiful event poster; Virginia White and her art curatorial team for putting together a fantastic art auction; Nancy Botkin and her team of talented quilters; photo booth
extraordinaire Amber McKee; and last but not least, the crew of New Belgium Brewery for donating the beer and keeping the taps flowing all night long!
A big, deserved thanks goes out to all who helped out and contributed to the success of the event including the 200 San Francisco Bicycle Coalition members who volunteered hundreds of hours of their time to make this event possible.
