On Saturday, the new and  popular bike corral in front of Zeitgeist (Duboce and Valencia) was hit by a car. Multiple bikes were run over, and one person on the sidewalk was hit, resulting in a broken leg. As your bicycle advocates, we’ve been talking with the San Francisco Police Department to find out more. Here’s what we know:

The SF Bicycle Coalition has confirmed with the Mission Police Station that the driver of the vehicle did stop and provide their insurance information.  If your bicycle was one of the bikes damaged in the crash, go to the Mission Police Station and provide a description of your bike. You will receive a case number and details to file an insurance claim.

Just as with any other vehicle which is damaged while parked on the road, the driver’s insurance company is expected to cover the damage. If you have any follow-up questions, please email our Program Manager, Marc Caswell, at marc@sfbike.org
