Bicycle Advocacy Intern Position Description

Position Overview

The Bicycle Advocacy Intern will gain firsthand experience in bicycle transportation planning and non-profit advocacy in San Francisco. Specific tasks will be tailored to match individual interests and relate to our ongoing advocacy work of improving bicycle infrastructure in our city.

Roles and Responsibilities (will vary)

  • Grassroots outreach with local businesses, neighborhood groups, residents, families and members to engage them in active campaigns
  • Support our member engagement, which includes assistance with database management, email/phone communication and neighborhood meetings
  • Assist with communications (including emails, blog posts and social media)
  • Research and data collection on bicycle-related statistics and best practices in bicycle planning and policy

Required skills or abilities:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in professional and public settings
  • Passion for making San Francisco a better city for biking and living
  • Experience in or willingness to learn community outreach
  • Ability to get around the city to attend meetings and do outreach
  • Ability to work on tasks independently

Desired skills or abilities:

  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping
  • Bilingual Spanish/Cantonese fluency
  • HTML and graphic design experience (Adobe Creative Suite)

The position is unpaid but we are happy to work with any academic requirements the intern may have to help them earn college credit for their efforts.
