Member Profile: Adam Garcia

Meet Adam Garcia, one of the terrific members of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. Adam lives in the Mission District and has been a member since 2012. Here are his thoughts on why he rides, what would make his ride better and why he keeps his membership current:

What I love about biking:
It’s definitely about exercising and saving money in moving my person and things where I need to go, especially though exploring new landscapes through day trips on transit and longer multi-day camping rides. There’s a chance to see things you’d otherwise miss or not consider swooshing through in your motor vehicle.

What I want to see improved:
Someday I’d love to bike down Polk with my niece from her home in Cow Hollow to go run around the Dolores playground. I know the SF Bicycle Coalition will be a voice of vision and reason to help bring protected bike lanes (Class IV!) across this vital backbone of SF’s bicycle network. And a car-free Market with separated lanes around downtown sure would make my lungs less paranoid.

Why I’m a member:
I want to support the city’s transition and be a beneficiary of safer streets for pedestrians and bicyclists. The Coalition is the voice that connects the biking community together to make all the moving pieces work together, both figuratively through advocacy with SF Planning and Public Works, but also literally by educating bus and taxis drivers on the street. ¡Viva SF Bicycle Coalition!
