Do you bike to church, mosque, temple, satsang, synagogue, or any other place of worship? As part of Bike Month in May, San Francisco Bicycle Coalition members are working in partnership with the San Francisco Interfaith Council to create a Bike to Worship Week from Sunday, May 25 to Sunday, June 1, 2014.
Throughout the week various congregations will celebrate biking to their place of worship. Congregations may sign up and choose which day they wish to participate and promote members of their organization on that day to bike. We invite and encourage all local places of worship to participate. When you sign up you will receive a free Bike to Worship toolkit to help with your event.
Bike to Worship is a San Francisco event that gives your congregation and community members the opportunity to raise visibility of biking to worship while making our communities safer and more pleasant places to live. Additionally, it is a collective, bicycle-oriented celebration that promotes health, safety, physical activity and concern for our neighbors and the environment.
The free Bike to Worship Toolkit is designed to help prepare for a simple, successful Bike to Worship event at your place of worship. The SF Bicycle Coalition will be available to help with basic planning support plus supply maps, event posters designs and bicycle safety materials, including the “Rules of the Road” and info on Free Bicycle Education classes.
