FREE

Join Rapha San Francisco for an evening with former US National, Olympic and Professional team cyclists Mike Sayers, Julie Young and Dede (Demet) Barry. They will lead a discussion on weaving cycling into your lifestyle, finding balance, maximizing your enjoyment and improving your abilities. With decades of combined experience at the highest level of the sport they will share their experience and expertise to help you improve your relationship with cycling.

Michael Sayers and Julie Young are the co-founders of Dai Endurance, an Endurance sports studio in Sacramento, California committed to helping you become the best that you can be through endurance-based fitness and functional training.

Mike raced professionally in America and Europe for more than 13 years for the BMC, Mercury, Comptel-Colorado and Healthnet Cycling Teams. Once he retired from racing, he worked for the BMC Racing Team as assistant director of global cycling operations, where he contributed to Cadel Evans’ winning the 2011 Tour de France and the development of young American stars like Taylor Phinney. Mike also served as the U.S. Olympic Team Men’s Coach at the 2012 London Games and the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro and led Team USA at 9 World Championships for both the U23 Men and the Elite Men. In 2017, he co-founded Dai Endurance.

Julie is a 12-year US and European Professional Cyclist, as well as US National Champion mountain biker and trail runner and a graduate of U.C.L.A where she was earned the status as an NCAA Academic All-American. After retiring from professional bicycle racing, Julie shifted her focus to coaching, biomechanics and bike fit. She is the Director of Kaiser Sports Medicine, Endurance Lab, co-founded Dai Endurance and Bike Like a Girl, a non-profit organization focussed on increasing the number of girls riding bikes.

Dede (Demet) Barry is a former U.S. Olympic Silver medallist (2004), 6-Time US National Champion. After retiring from professional cycling, Dede attained a Global Executive MBA at IESE in Barcelona and she currently co-leads Mariposa Bicycles, a hand built bicycle manufacturer in Toronto, Canada. Although she no longer competes as a cyclist, she is an active athlete, regularly out running, cycling and skiing the many trails in Toronto. Along with her husband, former Team Sky professional Michael Barry, and some friends, she organizes a youth cycling development program and the Growling Beaver Brevet, a gravel cycling event in Canada that supports the Davis Phinney Foundation and people with Parkinson’s.

The trio will also be joining Rapha’s Stammtisch Ride on Thursday, June 7th at 6pm and their Saturday ride on June 9th, at 8am. You can sign up for both here.
