Intro to Urban Bicycling with JUMP Bikes

Tuesday, August 21, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Come learn the basics of biking in San Francisco at our Intro to Urban Bicycling Workshop. In partnership with Jump Bikes, we are offering a new 90-minute course covering bicycling for everyday riding in SF, the rules of the road, route planning, how to use the Jump Bikes system, and what you need to know about riding electric-assist bicycles. The first half of the class will be in the classroom, and in the second half we’ll hit the streets, checking out Jump Bikes and going for a short group ride. This course is a great class for people who already know how to bike but are considering bicycling more in the city, joining Jump Bikes, or looking to brush up on urban skills. All participants will get a code good for a $10 credit in the Jump Bikes system. Additionally, we’ll be raffling off 4 promo codes for $100 towards Jump Bike rides — that’s 50 rides!

Topics Covered:

  • Helmet fit
  • Preparing to ride
  • Rules of the road
  • Safety skills & tips
  • Riding electric-assist bikes
  • Route planning
  • Locking and protecting your bike
  • How to use the JUMP Bikes system
  • Boost program for low-income participants

No bicycle is necessary for this class, although indoor bicycle parking is available. We strongly recommend participants bring their own bike helmet!

Please contact Christopher White (christopher@sfbike.org) with any questions about this program.
