Teaching Taxi Drivers to Share the Streets with Bikes
You probably know that the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition teaches free bicycle education classes. But did you know that last year we launched a program to teach all new taxi drivers how to share the streets with people on bike? We know that educating frequent drivers about safely sharing the streets with bikes is crucial to making your ride around our great city much safer. Last week, we celebrated our one year anniversary of the taxi training!

On February 6, the dance floor at Public Works will be shakin' as SF Bicycle Coalition sweethearts DJ shOOey, DJ Aaron Pope, and DJ Sinned spin tunes ripe for romance!

Love Your Lanes Ride This Saturday
What kinds of bike improvements do you want in the Glen Park, Noe Valley and Castro neighborhoods? The SF Bicycle Coalition invites our current members to our Love Your Lanes ride this Saturday and help us define our priorities for biking in District 8:

Video: San Francisco Bike to School Day
In an effort to welcome even more kids to biking to school, this year’s Bike to School Day will now be Bike to School WEEK! On April 22-26, students throughout San Francisco will pedal to class. Registration for the big event is open, as is the poster contest for youth. Visit sfbiketoschoolday.org to sign up! For now, check out this adorable video of San Francisco’s Bike to School Day. We love seeing so many kids pedaling to school!

Safe Routes to School Walking School Bus Leader Training
This parent training will cover individual and group pedestrian safety practices, ways to engage students and a discussion of activities to encourage regular walking, biking, transit and carpooling to school. RSVP to email@example.com if you are interested in joining.
Family Biking: Bike to School Practice Training
Learn how to ride your children with our on-road course. Our instructors will teach you and your children how to prepare including practice on a car-free space and on regular city streets with biking facilities. Parents with children of all ages that are riding independently are welcome. All people under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Ride will end at Koret Children's Playground. Limited to 35 youth and adults. Please bring your own bikes and helmets. RSVP
SF Bicycle Coalition Volunteer Night
This twice-monthly SF Bicycle Coalition tradition has been happening for as long as we can remember and newcomers are always welcome. So stop by, snack on tasty treats, chat with fellow members, and help us keep our organization rolling. Dinner is provided. Bring a friend-the more the merrier! Don't forget to bring up your bike to the office! No RSVP necessary to volunteer. Special thanks to Rainbow Grocery for generously providing snacks for our volunteers.

SF Bicycle Advisory Committee meeting *
Come and speak up about bicycle issues in San Francisco. This eleven member committee meets once a month and advises the Board of Supervisors on all matters bicycle. Check the BAC website to see schedules and agendas, and contact BAC chair Bert Hill to ask to have an issue on the agenda or to request notice of meetings.
Bike to the Theater Night: 4000 Miles *
Named the #1 Play of 2012 by Time Magazine - 4000 Miles is the acclaimed new comic-drama that tells the story of 21-year-old Leo, who unexpectedly arrives on the doorstep of his feisty 91-year-old grandmother Vera's New York apartment, dazed after a months long cross-country bike trip. The winner of two 2012 OBIE Awards (including Best New American Play), 4000 Miles is "a funny, moving, altogether wonderful drama" (The New York Times) from one of today's most celebrated new playwrights.

Love Your Lanes Bike Ride - Glen Park to Castro
Join the SF Bicycle Coalition for a District 8 Love Your Lanes neighborhood bike ride and mingle. We are putting together a survey bike ride through the Glen Park, Noe Valley and Castro neighborhoods and want you to join. You can help us evaluate how effective recent improvements have been and identify what work we still need to do.
