freedom from training wheels

A family bicycle workshop

Join San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and families with kids, in a car-free space like Golden Gate Park or during Sunday Streets for Freedom From Training Wheels. Instructors will be on hand to help kids learn how to ride without training wheels. Bring bike, helmet and maybe some snacks to share.

2010 Schedule:

The popular Freedom From Training Wheels will be held at every Sunday Streets event in 2010: see below for the calendar (specific locations and times for the workshops will be determined closer to each event date). In addition, we will have monthly workshops in the Summer in Golden Gate park.

Sunday March 14, 11am - 1pm, Pier 7, Embarcadero.

  • We need Freedom Leaders! If you are interested in assisting with our 2010 Freedom From Training Wheels workshops, please join us at 10am at Pier 7 this Sunday for a short training (email neal@sfbike.org to RSVP). We need your help in coaching parents and the next generation of San Francisco cyclists!

The workshop is a "must" for any parents trying to teach their children to ride a bike. Having an enthusiastic instructor who is not the child's parent made all the difference in the world. The workshop was also a great way to meet and support other like-minded families who see bikes as essential to daily life.

— Kent, SFBC member, who attended with his daughters, Chloe, age 8, and Mia, age 5.

No training wheels needed!
