Work the movement
The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition (SFBC) works to promote bicycling for everyday transportation. Our 11,000-member grassroots organization is considered one of the most active and effective advocacy groups in the city.
The SFBC's work during the past decade has helped to double the number of people biking in San Francisco. We are striving to increase the percentage of trips made by bike in the city to 10% by 2010. The SFBC's top strategies include: building a Citywide Bike Network, where people of any age, background, or skill level will feel safe and comfortable riding; educating motorists and bicyclists about the importance of sharing the road responsibly; increasing secure bike parking and access to transit; and promoting bicycling as a fun, healthy, and mainstream form of transportation.
