Valet Bicycle Parking

SFBC Bike Valet

The SF Bicycle Coalition has become justifiably famous for our free, friendly, innovative, and convenient Valet Bike Parking service offered at public and private events.

The SF Bicycle Coalition is proud to partner with Globe bikes on this popular program. Globe is showing their commitment to help fuel the transportation bike movement in San Francisco, and helping us keep your bikes safe and secure at hundreds of events throughout the year.

Valet bike parking is like a coat check for bicycles

Show up, hand over your bike to a friendly SF Bicycle Coalition bike valet, get your claim ticket and go enjoy the event — we'll keep a close eye on your bike until you return! We're proud to say that in more than a decade of offering bike valet, we've never had a bike lost or stolen.

The SF Bicycle Coalition provides valet bike parking at:

AT+T Park for all SF Giants home games
  • 75 other city events throughout the year
from large events like the Outside Lands Festival where we parked 3,100 bikes over 3-days to Hardly Strictly Blue Grass to parties, film festivals and art openings.
  • All major outdoor public events in San Francisco are required to provide secure bicycle parking* so you don't need to worry about your bike's safety.

Hire us for your bike valet needs

For professional, secure and attended bicycle parking, contact our Bike Parking Coordinator at bikevalets@sfbike.org, 415/431-2453 (BIKE) x315 or use our easy online form sfbike.org/valetform.

Let our reputation work for you and your event

Bike valet service ensures that bicycles and their accessories will not be stolen. People appreciate the extra security of valet and our reputation is well known. Hire us and you hire an organization trusted by tens of thousands of San Franciscans.

    Keep your event tidy

Why turn your staff into bad guys when crowd issues require you to exclude bicycles? Adding bike parking allows them to be positive and friendly when directing cyclists to the parking corral. As a bonus, most people who would have locked to poles and fences will seek out the corral instead.

    More people at your event

Bike valet encourages more people to get to your event by bike -- bike valet is the secret to easy and guaranteed parking! Seven in 10 San Franciscans rode a bike last year, when you offer bike valet you help attract more people to your event by giving them a secure place to park their bike.

Complete service saves you time and money

You could run your own bike parking corral, but why bother? Our complete service means no hassles for organizers. All you need to do is mention the service in your advertising, notify your security personnel, supply us with a secure perimeter, a few police barricades and a table. We'll do the rest- including set up and take down and the running of the corral. Many event organizers have found that our service reduces cost for car lots and staff to direct traffic.

We carry $1 million in liability and can list you as additional insured. Our base rate is about the same as what you'd have to pay just to hire staff. Discounts are available for low-budget noncommercial events.

*Bike Parking is REQUIRED at certain events

To promote bicycling and reduce bicycle theft, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors adopted the Bicycle Transit Enhancement Plan in November 1998 (ord. 980564), enacting numerous reforms and benefits for bicycle transportation. Among other things, Section 2.76 was added to SF Administrative Code to authorize monitored bicycle parking at large public events, with the requirement that for all events incurring a street closure, "Monitored bicycle parking is required for events with an anticipated number of participants greater than 2000". A brief overview of the regulations are as follows:

Secured Valet Bike Parking should.... Be provided for a minimum of 1% of all expected participants; be located within a one block radius of a regular entrance to the event. All event publicity should include information on the availability and location of the Secured Valet Bike Parking in the same format, with equal amount of space, as other transportation information. All event personnel should be aware of the Secure Valet Bike Parking location AND event maps must indicate the location as well.

The "monitored bicycle parking" regulation is enforced by the SF Municipal Transportation Agency's ISCOTT committee, as a standard part of temporary street closure and event permit review; see the SFMTA's website for more information.
