Bike to Work Day

On Thursday, May 9, join the nearly 300 SF Bicycle Coalition Member-Volunteers in celebrating San Francisco's largest bike event of the year! Volunteers help out in the morning, brightening commutes with free coffee, or in the afternoon, cheering folks on as they bike home. But why wait until May to get involved? We’re looking for volunteers to help plaster the city with posters about the event. Check out all the great ways to volunteer and sign up here.

Bike Build Convivios

At Convivios, which we hold in collaboration with People Organizing to Demand Environmental & Economic Rights (PODER), we assist local youth in performing basic bike tune-ups and repairs. View the upcoming events and sign up for the shift & role that matches your schedule here.

Bi-monthly Volunteer Night

This is the SF Bicycle Coalition's oldest tradition! Stop by, snack on tasty treats, chat with fellow members and volunteers, and help us keep our organization rolling. Dinner is provided. Bring a friend - the more the merrier! Stop by after work; no RSVP necessary. Don't forget to bring up your bike!

Daytime Office Help

Behind the scenes, volunteers keep our work rolling smoothly making membership kits, helping out with mailings, and uplifting our spirits! Have weekday hours to spare to help the bike movement in this essential way? Contact margaret@sfbike.org if you can help.

Phone Banking

Accept the challenge to chat up the SF Bicycle Coalition! Join the volunteers who keep the SF Bicycle Coalition membership strong. No cold-calling, just calls to friendly lapsed members offering an easy way to renew. Plan to stay for the thank-you dinner afterward and get to know your fellow volunteers. Streetside Service Stations & Outreach

Join the SF Bicycle Coalition in reaching out to city cyclists--out on the streets and at events! Meet fellow cyclists, and discuss how they can be a part of our work. Outreach is super fun and easy, and the most important way you can help advance the bike projects that matter to you! You can exercise your activist muscle by coming to our quarterly Bicycle Ambassador trainings at the SFBC office. View our upcoming Service Stations and sign up to help out here.

Tube Times Distribution

Help get the Bike word on the Street! Bring the Tube Times to your favorite neighborhood spots. Check out which gaps need filling!

Valet Bike Parking

Justifiably famous in SF, the SF Bicycle Coalition's bike valet parking is like a coat check for bikes. Give the precious gift of a worry-free fun time to a fellow bicyclist, all while in the company of other SF Bicycle Coalition Volunteers. Interested in helping at valet bike parking events? Calling all Writers, Designers and Photographers!

Writers contribute to our quarterly Tube Times newsletter as well as other publications, including the SF Chronicle and Momentum Magazine.
Designers are needed to help design invitations, posters and campaign materials.
Photographers are needed to photograph events and story assignments for various publications and on our website. If you're interested in any of these creative opportunities, email Kristin with samples or links to your work.

Cities for Change: Pedaling for a Better Tomorrow
Join the SF Bicycle Coalition and keynote speaker Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan in an evening to recognize the people and projects that are leading the way for San Francisco to be a City that encourages individuals to change to improve neighborhoods urban livability.

Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan, New York City Department of Transportation, will speak about New York's story, and particularly about the work that her Department of Transportation has done to open up miles of streets to safe and welcoming biking. Tickets and Event details

Bike + Design Lecture: Technology + Innovation *

Bike+Design is a three part series highlighting the history, innovation, and design of Bay Area bicycle culture. Curated by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA SF) in collaboration with California College of the Arts (CCA), events will be held over the course of three months at Coalesse Design Center.
