Gals with Gears is a group geared for women aged 50-plus-year young, but all riders are welcome. 

Please join the Gals for a new ride to Rodeo Beach in the Marin Headlands.

Meet on the Embarcadero across from the Ferry Building in San Francisco on Sunday, April 1 at 9:45 am for a 10:00 am roll. Click here for a map of the route.

We will follow the Embarcadero to Crissy Field, up and over the Golden Gate Bridge and ride up Conzelman Road, turning right on to McCullough Road at the traffic circle and descending to Bunker Road and regroup. Turning left, Bunker Road will take us all the way to Rodeo Beach, past the Rodeo Lagoon, Ft. Cronkite, and the Marine Mammal Center.

We will stop at the beach to take a break. Bring a snack and water. There are no permanent food options, but restrooms are available. The beach is gravelly with pounding surf and it’s often windy – we will see shorebirds and wildlife on the steep surrounding hills. It’s a beautiful spot!  We’ll take Bunker Road back, through the tunnel to Alexander Road and the Golden Gate Bridge and return the same route along Crissy Field back to the Ferry Building to end the ride.

• Thie is a Level C ride. Distance: 24 miles. Elevation: 1100 feet. Gusty winds possible.
• We ride at a relaxed pace and won’t leave anyone behind.
• RSVP required. Helmet and basic riding skills required.
• Not had your bicycle out in a very long while? Please have it checked over by a bike mechanic to be sure it is safe and reliable.
• The route is on multi-use paths, roads with or without a bike lane.
• Rain cancels. We will send a message via Meetup if we cancel to those who RSVP for this ride.
• Bring your questions — Anything you want to know about biking? No question is too basic — probably other Gals will have the same question!
