Near-Term Improvements on The Embarcadero

Waterfront

Thanks to funding from the Port of San Francisco, two more blocks of The Embarcadero got beautiful new green paint this week. From Harrison Street to Howard Street heading southbound, the bike lane will be much more visible and will comfortably guide you along the waterfront, whether you’re headed to AT&T Park for a Giants game or further south to Mission Bay and beyond.

But that’s not all! The Port of San Francisco is also funding improvements to the bike lanes on the northern end of the Embarcadero, near Chestnut and Sansome streets. The final design is getting worked out by the SF Municipal Transportation Agency, and plans include better guidance across the long intersection with sharrows as well as a realignment of the bike lane so it remains continuous and consistent as you head towards Battery Street. We expect this improvement to go in the ground soon.

Lastly, thanks to everyone who took a moment to complete our survey about the Embarcadero. We learned a lot from the responses and will be publishing the results next week, so stay tuned! Make sure to stay in the loop by joining our Embarcadero campaign today. Better yet, join us at Tour de Fat tomorrow and talk directly to our community organizer working on this campaign.
